Overview編集

Chirpy Chips (known as ABXY in Japan) is a four-person chiptune band from the Splatoon series.

Members編集

Harmony (Splatoon)編集

2022-27

The band's lead vocalist. A relaxed sea anemone who goes her own way. Her loose way of speaking and her peculiar movements makes her popular among fans. Due to not being as motivated as her fellow bandmates, she's often late for practice. She has a pet yellowtail clownfish, but it's dying of neglect.

She makes her physical debut in Splatoon 3, running the store Hotlantis in its manager's absence.

Clash編集

The band's guitarist. A brightly-colored, energetic inkling with a sunny disposition. Used to be a part of a punk band called BariBari before forming Chirpy Chips with Orion. Likes big vending machines, and has an irresistible urge to run along any slope he sees, particularly ones that go downhill.

Orion編集

ABXY

The band's bassist and composer. A flapjack octopus who does things at their own pace. Also composes independently and quietly posts their works online. Likes maintaining the band's chiptune sound, but dislikes performing and standing out in public. They're a geeky intellectual type who likes strange and outdated things.

Sid編集

The band's drummer. A crab who quietly watches over the others, and is also the oldest member. Rarely takes the lead, instead focusing on supporting the others. Usually easy-going, but is known to quietly snap once a year.

Etymology編集

Chirpy Chips comes from how chirping can be seen as a form of singing and chip from chiptune. This was the only band whose name was changed in the localization for the first game.

In Japan, the band's name is ABXY. It is believed to be derived from the A, B, X, and Y button on Nintendo's previous hardwares. The names of the songs are also taken from the functions of the Wii U.
